It’s good to have an impeccably dressed and polished Senior Vice President of Business Development, and that’s what Preferred Sands has in Miguel. It’s that attention to detail and desire for excellence that compliment his role as head of our sales team for our oilfield technologies company. He’s at his best when negotiating supply agreements while maintaining and expanding relationships with contract customers - leading us to often ask, “whose side are you on?” That’s why we consider Miguel our “Relationship Guy” and why his customers love his loyalty and desire to please. It’s through these relationships that Miguel is able to source new investment opportunities for Preferred in line with our long-term growth strategy.
Miguel joined Preferred in 2002 as a Sales Associate, initially responsible for the leasing, acquisition and disposition of commercial and industrial real estate projects. By 2006, he had managed and consummated transactions totaling over $500 million. When Preferred entered the mining industry in 2007, the decision to place Miguel in his current role was a no brainer. With that winning smile and “can do” attitude, we knew he could handle the challenging task at hand.
With Bachelors and an MBA degree from Widener University, Miguel was also a two-sport varsity athlete in football and track & field, and earned the honor of NCAA All-American in 2000. Miguel’s daily dedication to ensuring he’s the fastest on Preferred’s “triathlon team” is surpassed by his true devotion - to his wife and their four young children.
